Goal
Elysian Mark C.A.G.'s Project Sommerfields (an alteration of Summer Fields, representing the habitat in which hummingbirds [the EMCAG omen, meaning hope and the impossible made possible] live freely) is an upcoming Quebecker Laurentian homestead ecovillage.
An homestead ecovillage is a self-sufficient community-based settlement in which humans cohabit not only together, but in respect, care, and understanding of the natural ecology surrounding them. Popular examples of such ecovillages are the Cité Écologique de Ham-Nord, in Québec, Canada, its American sister ecovillage, the Cité Écologique of New-Hampshire, and the Scottish ecovillage Findhorn. Each ecovillages approaches the concept differently according to their country, the local climate (and culture), and each's specific needs and goals.
Project Sommerfields is thus primarily dedicated to displaced families and individuals who cannot make ends meet as a result of lost jobs, business bankruptcy, divorce, or other trajedies, but will also welcome homesteaders and community-based dwellers.
Project Sommerfields will be a communial ecovillage, where free shelters and food services are offered in exchange for communial help and chores such as crop planting and harvesting, seed saving, cooking, and various other communial homestead/ecovillage duties. A little piece of haven for those whom embrace homesteading and self-sufficiency.
Additionally, full ecovillage services besides farming will be provided, such as:
- a marketplace;
- a learning centre to help individuals learn new skills for potential job offers outside or within the ecovillage;
- a private pedagogy for the children until school or homeschool opportunities become available (at the personal choice of the parents);
- a library/knowledge centre;
- community centre where the individuals can sew, paint, and make anything necessary for personal need, the community, and the marketplace;
- ethnobotanical/natural medicine centre;
- and more facilities/services as the ecovillage grows.
Fundraisers are in place to help bring this project to life, furthering the desire and goal of Elysian Mark Charity Art Group to help local communities in need.

Seeking a temporary lodging, or wishing to join as a citizen?
Project Sommerfields will be open to all who are interested to join as a full-time citizen, or who needs a temporary transition; we are not a rental camping-type organization or one-night stay/visits (B&B type).
Those who are welcomed includes:
- displaced families or individuals who cannot make ends meet as a result of lost jobs, business bankruptcy, divorce, or other trajedies, and require a temporary place to live;
- serious self-sufficient homesteaders;
- families or individuals who wish for farm, communial-based living.
What Project Sommerfields strictly refuse from any of its short-term or long-term citizens are:
- Violent and abusive behaviours;
- Passive-aggressive behaviours;
- Verbal abuses, insults, and discrimination of ALL races, genders, beliefs systems, cultures, and sexual orientations;
- Soft and Hard drugs usage, including cannabis in all its forms despite its now legal status in Canada/USA. Safer alternative medicinal plants will be offered for those who require medical cannabis for their conditions.
- Clothings with printed messages/imageries of violent or inappropriate meanings.
Any infraction will result in two warnings; at the third, the individual may be judged unfit to communial cohabitation and will be revoked his/her citizenship, and/or his/her temporary stay permission.
For aspiring citizens, after the 1 month integration period, the ecovillage's existing citizens will vote whether to accept or not the request. Deciding factors will be about the behaviour, respect, and engagement to live not only in communial cohabitation with fellow citizens, but also in respect and symbiosis with the ecological aspect of cohabitation with Nature.

- Displaced families or individuals who require temporary lodgings until proper transition to the next step of their life may request so and will receive free shelter, food services, and full access to the ecovillage's services. They however cannot vote upon the ecovillage's decisions, and individuals of 18+ of age will be required to volunteer a minimum of 20 hours per week of communial duties and chores such as crop planting and harvesting, seed saving, cooking, and various other communial farm/ecovillage duties. Special provisions will be made for individuals with disabilities and other similar factors. If they wish to, temporary lodgers may request to become a full-fledged citizen. In which case, they will need to follow the below guidelines.
- Aspiring long-term citizens are required a minimum of 1 month of integration before being accepted as a full-fledged Sommerfields citizen, and cannot vote upon the ecovillage's decisions during this integration period. During this integration period of 1 month, individuals have access to the full services of the ecovillage, including free shelter and food services, but those above 18 years of age are requested to provide a minimum of 30 hours per week of help in the ecovillage, such as crop planting and harvesting, seed saving, cooking, and various other communial farm/ecovillage duties. This will prove the individual's will and engagement to be a part of the community as well as filter those who simply wish to be in the ecovillage as a vacation spot. Special provisions to this request will be made for disabilities and other similar factors.
